Hey guys, Hope you are all well. I should be coming back to visit the squadron fairly soon.
Still very proud of the cadets who take part in the parades/events etc. It is a good thing to give up your free time to help atc and the community. Well done everyone :)

I would like to thank all members of the squadron that took part in this years Wing Training Day competition. You all did the squadron and myself proud, even more so with the results. This years entry was the last for me as a CWO and to have achieved these results is a personal satisfaction but one that could not have been achieved without all the time and effort you all put in, so a personal thankyou to you all. A special thanks to the banner team who had to learn their routine as well as the standard drill team. I believe this years results showed the squadron come 3rd out of 21 squadrons that entered the drill competion and 3rd out of 22 squadrons that entered the smartest squadron. With another year of polish and experience amongst you who knows what you could achieve. Thank you also to the reserves of the competition and the cadets that turned up to support, team work is the key. Well done again!

Hey guys!

Hope you all had a good start to the new year and a very merry christmas!

While i was in Fuerteventura, we went to the last remaining RAF station in Lanzarote during one of the tours we did! It was used by the RAF in the WW2! It's very shocking to see some of the base as you can still see some of damage it recieved during the war!
Very good to visit!
Meantioned it to people at the Office today when i went to get application forms for the RAF and the CPL i spoke to had been there and was stationed there for two years about 5 years ago! Very interessting to hear about it as its very close to the remaining active volcano!

Attention All Cadets:
Please remember to bring your Jersey with you to cadets each night. We will start to wear them as of the 1st October. Until then just bring it with you.

From this point any absence from the squadron has to be reported to either myself or Flying Officer Burgess prior to being away. Your absence will be logged in a absence book. Failure to inform either of us will result in a recording of an unauthorised absence. We can be informed in person at the squadron, by a phone call to the squadron on a parade night or an email to myself on the email address listed at the squadron. You each have the responsibility to do this yourself if you are going to be away, do not expect other cadets to just pass on the message to us.
Any questions on this matter just ask.

Many thanks.

Msg from New Zealand.

First of all i would like to appologise for the poor spelling on my previous message i was rushed for time.

Just to let you know it is 22:15 Monday 28th july here in N Z. Yesterday i went helicopter flying with 3 sqn RNZAF. I am hosted by another cadet family and i have just come back from a squadron parade night. It is not that different to ours. However they only parade 1 night a week so you all have no reason not to have the squadron up to standard for our inspection which i believe is comming up.

Anyway im in wellington the capital on N Z and tommorow im onto the ferry to hear to the south island to expolre there. I will try and post further comments should the chance arrive. Hello to the new cadet from down south i believe and congratulations to R. Lofthouse on your recent promotion to FS.

BTW if anyone has any questions you would like me to find out about N Z or their cadets just drop me an email or posting on this guest book and ill do my best to find out for you while im here.

Hell this is a message from newzeland.

I am fine arrived in new zealand 06:00 am sunday and i have just met up with my first host family. i am hosted with a USA cadet also. Today the weather has been great considering it is mid winter. i have some good photos to bring back and hope to get some more. Yesterday we looked around a RNZAF base near Auckland Where we have been based since our arrival in Newzealand. Today Thursday 24 july we hit the road to move to another city. We are moving from the top of the north island to variout cities and towns as we head south to the most souther island. im a bit rushed for time as it is 15:45 and we are about to go out to the top of a local mountain. The family im staying with are fine and i hope to have a great couple of days with them before i move onto the next town/ city.

I will try and post further commets if i get the oppertunity but if not i hope you are all ok and i am writiing a diary of events which i hope to share with you all on my return with my stories.

BTW one USA Cadet on the first day in the mess put custard on his main course thinking it was cheese source. lol

Many thanks to thos who were able to assist at the Athletics on Saturday - well done.
Sunday, windy but not wet! BAnd did an excellent job, as did those on general duties, and as always many praises from the organisers etc. Gliding cancelled due to the wind but I think those who marched to do the display in front of the museum would say that it was windy enough to take off up there!

Near the Old Worcester Road Entrance, & was the old Guard house. We had our own Late Mark Spitfire (Griffon Engine) as Gate Guardian. It was tethered down, but we used to climb on it & in it.Our Target Dril was at the Butts (on the Railside of airfield) using WW2 Lee Enfield 303 Rifles with live ammo.LOTS OF NOISE & VERY HEAVY, for a then 12 or 13 year old.

Evening all!!

I'd firstly like to apologise for my long absence, I hope you all haven't missed me too much. The reason for this is because I have my exams soon (fun) and also I'm moving house shortly so things are getting a bit hectic.

But rest assured folks your loveable sgt shall return!!

Secondly I would like to say well done to those people who got an award at presentation evening, sorry I couldn't be there.

FINALLY!!! Well done to the cadets who attended the parades, you've all done me proud ;) and a special mention must go to Cdt Langton....nice to see someone is following in my footsteps!

Ciao for now!

Hi to all.
I have created a new email address, so anyone can contact me with ATC related topics. If you are unsure of anything ie what uniform to wear or how to do your uniform you can contact me by email. I hope this will help you with ANY cadet related questions that you may have, in which you may be reluctant to openly post on the guestbook for all to see. Please remember to add your name to the email as it is unlikely i will recognise you from your email address.
Thanks.
P.S - It is nice to hear from you again Jen Harris, it would be nice to see you again, and if your circumstances have changed to see you back on the squadron as a cadet again as we have many new faces since you left.
- On that note anyone who has someone they now who may be interested in joining the squadron bring them along, but see myself or the boss before so we can make arrangements.

4 things to mention
1 - We have at last got our latest construction plan finished (you'll know what I mean) and authorised, so I look forward to getting to use it on a regular basis - just needs item 2 to be complete first.
2 - The floor in the main hall is nearly finished. it looks really smart and just needs some final touches before we can start using the hall again. For those of you who haven't seen it, being blue it looks (and sounds) more like a swimming pool than ever - and just as big!
3 - Congratulations to CWO Preston on getting his gold wings and his invitation to St James' Palace to receive his gold DoE Award
4 - Well done and thank you to everyone who attended the ATC Sunday Service today. Shame we had to cancel the parade itself due to the weather but better than getting really cold and wet marching down the High St! Excellent turnout by one and all.

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. As you probably all know, i left on friday night (21st Dec) it was very sad to say goodbye after five years but it was time to move on for various reasons, needless to say it was a very hard decision to make! I just want to say thank you to all the cadets who i have worked with over the past five years, you are a great bunch of people who i'm sure will go far. A big thanks goes out to the staff, i think they do a great job and without them we wouldn't have had a squadron. Finally i would like to say thank you to all the NCO team, you have been great, a special thanks to CWO Preston, my best mate over the last five years and went up the ranks together apart from the last one, congratulations on CWO you definately deserve it! Good luck to you all, keep in touch, try your hardest and you will make yourselves proud.

Evening all.
I've been viewing this, the board of my old ATC Sqd for some time. Its nice to see its still going strong, but sad to see familiar faces leaving. I've seen that you've moved and have left the 'old' hut now, hope all is well with that.
For those of you that remember me - I'm ex Flt Sgt Blakemore, i was in the Squadron from 07/97 to 06/03. 6 years of my life i will never forget and that have helped me recently on my application to OASC Cranwell where i have now been accepted as an Officer for ATCO and start IOT in November. My thanks go out to all the staff that made ATC SO enjoyable for me and the camaraderie of fellow cadets.
*To all current cadets - you are part of a great organization that can give you opportunities that very few others can. Make the most of it! I did and am glad of it.

Matt and I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Cadets and staff of the Sqn for the wonderful leaving gift you presented us with.
For those of you who have not yet signed our leaving card we will leave it untill Friday evening so everyone will get the chance to sign it (if you want to)who was not there. You may need to write it in text style as we have run out of room as Flt Sgt Lofthouse wrote a War and Peace episode on it! Bless her!!
Sorry my speech was a little blubbery but we have been with the Sqn 6years, and we are going to miss you all terribly!
Anyway thats all for now.

Need too say some "thank you"s
Those who went to athletics on Sun - well done, some good results there!
Those who joined us for the St George's Day Parade at Whitchurch. - We weren't many, but we did a grand job!
Those who attended Weston Park - It may have been hot and it may have been hard work over a long period but I think we all enjoyed it, even the burgers!!!
And finally
Those 2 people who we made the presentation to on Weds, the Sgts Holmes. It was with great sadness that we heard the news that they were off to pastures new. Both Sandra and Matt have put a terrific amount into the squadron and I mentioned a few items last night that they have worked so hard on but I know I missed some, so here goes again:-
Section visits, Low ropes, swimming, gym, RTP flying, Air Day, Sqn move, transport, parties, more parties, 1st aid, training, exams, drill, discip, lessons, R/C flying, modelling, films, photography, web site, computing, numerous off-sqn activities, parades, Station liaison, mail, . . . . the list goes on so I'd better stop! Oh there was one other thing, something to do with historical buildings, now, what was it, began with a C, let me think, ends with an N!!!!!!!

Hello Cdts, it is a growing problem that cadets don't have other cadets mobile numbers.. So all us new cadets need to ask for each others number, and when there is a problem like today, we can get to the problem and solve it.
Thanks! And well done to all the runners and athletes in todays athletics,

Sport on Friday;
Drop off at Cosford 09.00.
Pick up approx 16.30.
These times are liable to change so I would advise all cadets who are down for sport to call the Sqn on Friday if they aren't going to be there to confirm drop off /pick up times.
Don't forget to bring a packed lunch.

With Drums Beating and Band Playing
A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Approbation Parade today (24 March), especially our newer members. The band sounded really good and both drill and deportment were 2nd to none. To top it all, we made the front page and page six of the Shropshire Star. Those of you from the East side of Cosford, anything in the Express and Star?
Well done everyone once again.

Hey everyone, just want to say a huge thankyou to all the people who attended the approbation parade in Albrighton today! Considering only 12 of us were there, we made a big impact, and as usual everyone had only good comments to pass on. Thankyou all, see you soon.

Race Night on 17th Feb was a great success and raised around £500. Many thanks to all cadets, parents and staff who attended, with particular thanks to Mrs Coates for organising the evening, and to the ladies who provided the buffet.
It was most enjoyable taking money off people for the tote but paying out the winnings did hurt!
Congratulations to the 2 people who successfully bid for the ballooning and flying tickets - enjoy.
To Fg Off Burgess - Too much of the brown stuff can be bad for you, the rest of the staff will help you out if required!

Cold War Exhibition
Cadets and staff were privileged to be invited to attend the official opening of addition to the Museum at Cosford in the presence of HRH Princess Ann, Baroness Thatcher and a huge number of senior officers.
The cadets acquitted themselves exceptionally well and we received many comments on smartness, personability and a "job well done".
Many thanks to all who attended, a credit to the Squadron and the Corps, as always!
Pictures and further details will be added to the web site soonest.
